Refer a Patient to Body Fusion

When a patient needs expert nutrition support, a clear referral pathway saves you time and helps them get seen sooner. Body Fusion makes it simple to refer to an Accredited Practising Dietitian across Sydney or by telehealth, with prompt communication back to you throughout their care.

Who Your Patients Will See.

Body Fusion is a private dietetics practice staffed by Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) who meet the standards set by Dietitians Australia. Your patients are seen by qualified clinicians who work within their scope and communicate with you as part of the wider care team.

The team brings complementary areas of focus, so patients can be matched to the dietitian whose expertise best suits their needs. One dietitian focuses on weight management and women’s health, while another is an Accredited Sports Dietitian with a growing focus on paediatric nutrition. You can read more about the team and their qualifications on the meet the team page.

Medicare Chronic Disease Management and Eating Disorder Plans.

Patients managing an eligible chronic condition may be able to access Medicare-subsidised dietitian appointments through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, often still called a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. Eligible patients can receive up to five Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions each calendar year.

These five sessions are shared across all allied health professionals, so if your patient is also seeing a physiotherapist or podiatrist, for example, those visits come from the same five.

Medicare CDM Plan

The Medicare rebate for a dietitian session is currently $63.40 per visit (as at September 2026), and there is an out-of-pocket cost for each appointment. Eligibility is determined by Medicare, and rebate amounts are updated periodically. Body Fusion also welcomes private and privately insured patients, and many health funds provide cover for dietetics.

Patients with a diagnosed eating disorder who meet Medicare’s eligibility criteria may instead be referred under an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP), prepared by a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. An EDP provides access to up to 20 Medicare-subsidised dietetic sessions in a 12-month period, separate from the five chronic condition sessions, so patients can receive the more intensive support that eating disorder care often needs.

What Happens After You Refer.

Once a referral is received, the Body Fusion reception team contacts the patient to arrange an initial consultation at a time and location that suits them. Patients can be seen in clinic or by secure telehealth video across Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from clients managing diabetes, cardiovascular conditions and other chronic health concerns.

Do you accept referrals from external GPs and specialists?

Yes. Body Fusion welcomes referrals from GPs, medical specialists and allied health colleagues across Sydney, as well as from your own patients directly. Whether the patient needs weight management (including GLP-1 nutrition support), chronic disease management, gut health, women’s health, sports nutrition, paediatric nutrition or eating disorder support, you can refer them to an Accredited Practising Dietitian on the team.

No. Patients can book privately at any time without a referral. A referral is needed only if the patient wants to access a Medicare rebate through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan or an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP), or if their private health fund requires one. A referral letter is always helpful, as it gives the dietitian useful clinical context.

If your patient is eligible, prepare a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (CDM plan) and refer them to Body Fusion. They can claim a Medicare rebate of $63.40 per session (as at September 2026) for up to five allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers, with an out-of-pocket cost for each visit. For patients with an eligible eating disorder, an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP) provides up to 20 subsidised dietetic sessions in a 12-month period. Eligibility and rebates are set by Medicare, so please check the latest details when preparing the plan.

Yes. With the patient’s consent, the dietitian can provide correspondence on their assessment and progress so you stay informed and the care aligns with your management plan. If you have specific communication preferences, let the reception team know when you refer.

Yes. Body Fusion offers secure telehealth video consultations Australia-wide, alongside in-clinic appointments across its Sydney locations. Telehealth can suit patients who live outside Sydney, have limited mobility or prefer to consult from home, and the same personalised care applies.

Body Fusion has five clinics across Sydney: the main clinic in Hunters Hill, plus Rozelle, Lane Cove, North Sydney and the newest location in Epping, along with Australia-wide telehealth.
