Fees and Rebates to Body Fusion
Working out what a dietitian appointment will cost, and how much you can claim back, should not be the hard part of getting support. This page explains Body Fusion’s consultation fees, Medicare and private health rebates, and how to claim, so you can book across Sydney or by telehealth knowing what to expect.

How Our Dietitian Fees Work.

Body Fusion is a private dietetics practice, and appointments are seen by Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs). Fees reflect the length and type of appointment, and current pricing for each appointment type is shown when you book online, so you can see the cost before you confirm a time.

Telehealth consultations are available Australia-wide and are booked the same way as in-clinic visits.

Our current fees (as at September 2026) are $195 for an initial consultation and $105 for a follow-up appointment. Telehealth appointments are the same price as in-clinic visits. Sports consultations and couples consultations are priced differently; the current fee for each is shown when you book online, or the reception team can confirm it for you.

How Consultation Work

01

Initial consultation

a longer, comprehensive first appointment to take your history, understand your goals and set a personalised plan

02

Follow-up appointments

shorter review sessions to track progress, adjust your plan and keep you supported between visits

03

Telehealth

secure video consultations across Australia, with the same personalised care and the same fees as an in-clinic appointment

04

Programs and packages

some services may be offered as a series of appointments; ask the reception team what suits your goals

Medicare Chronic Disease Management and Eating Disorder Plans.

If you are managing an eligible chronic condition, you may be able to access Medicare-subsidised dietitian appointments through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, often still called a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. Your GP prepares the plan and refers you to a dietitian, and where you qualify it provides access to rebated allied health sessions each calendar year.

A CDM plan gives access to up to five rebated allied health sessions per calendar year.

These sessions are shared across all the allied health services you use, not five for dietetics alone. The Medicare rebate for a dietitian session is currently $63.40 (as at September 2026), so there is an out-of-pocket cost. For example, if the full rebate applies, you would pay $131.60 for a $195 initial consultation and $41.60 for a $105 follow-up.

01

Referral

your GP decides if you are eligible and prepares the CDM plan and referral

02

Rebated sessions

up to five allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across your allied health providers

03

Rebate amount

currently $63.40 per session, set by Medicare, with the difference between the rebate and the fee as your out-of-pocket cost

04

Credential

the APD credential is recognised by Medicare for these rebates

If you have a diagnosed eating disorder and meet Medicare’s eligibility criteria, your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician may instead prepare an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP), which provides up to 20 Medicare-subsidised dietetic sessions in a 12-month period.
Claiming Through Your Private Health Fund.

Many private health funds provide rebates for dietitian consultations under their extras cover. The amount you can claim depends on your fund, your level of cover and any annual limits, so it is worth checking your policy or contacting your fund before your appointment.

Body Fusion does not process private health claims on the day. You pay for your appointment, and we send you an invoice that you can submit to your fund to claim your rebate. You do not need a GP referral to use your extras cover for a private dietitian appointment. Please note that you cannot claim both Medicare and private health rebates for the same appointment.

DVA and NDIS Options.
Body Fusion sees DVA clients and processes DVA claims, so eligible cardholders can access dietetic care with a valid referral. We also see NDIS participants whose plans are self-managed or plan-managed, where dietetic support fits their plan goals.

DVA

eligible cardholders can access dietetic services with a valid DVA referral from their GP, and Body Fusion processes the claim

NDIS

self-managed and plan-managed participants are welcome and can use their funding for dietetic support, subject to their plan goals

Initial and Follow-Up Appointments Explained.

Your first appointment is longer because it covers a full assessment: your history, your goals, your lifestyle and the plan that fits them. Follow-up appointments are shorter and are where much of the real progress happens, giving you a consistent point of accountability and support to build sustainable habits between visits.

Ongoing follow-up is more than a plan review. It is regular, personalised support that helps you stay on track, adapt as life changes and keep momentum, which is why ongoing support often works better than a single visit.

How to Claim Your Rebate.
The steps are straightforward whether you are claiming through Medicare or a private health fund. If you are unsure which applies to you, the reception team can talk you through it before you book.

1

Check your eligibility

see your GP about a CDM plan for Medicare, or check your extras cover with your private health fund

2

Book your appointment

choose an in-clinic or telehealth time and bring any referral or plan with you

3

Attend and pay

pay for your appointment on the day and receive your invoice

3

Claim your rebate

claim your Medicare rebate against your CDM plan, or submit your invoice to your private health fund to claim your extras rebate

You can view current clinic details on the locations page, or contact the practice on 0422 297 721 if you have a question about fees or rebates before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from clients managing diabetes, cardiovascular conditions and other chronic health concerns.

How much does a dietitian appointment cost at Body Fusion?
As at September 2026, an initial consultation is $195 and a follow-up appointment is $105, and telehealth is the same price as in-clinic. Sports and couples consultations are priced differently and are shown when you book online. Medicare and private health fund rebates may reduce your out-of-pocket cost if you are eligible.
No. Patients can book privately at any time without a referral. A referral is needed only if the patient wants to access a Medicare rebate through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan or an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP), or if their private health fund requires one. A referral letter is always helpful, as it gives the dietitian useful clinical context.
If your patient is eligible, prepare a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (CDM plan) and refer them to Body Fusion. They can claim a Medicare rebate of $63.40 per session (as at September 2026) for up to five allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers, with an out-of-pocket cost for each visit. For patients with an eligible eating disorder, an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP) provides up to 20 subsidised dietetic sessions in a 12-month period. Eligibility and rebates are set by Medicare, so please check the latest details when preparing the plan.
Yes. With the patient’s consent, the dietitian can provide correspondence on their assessment and progress so you stay informed and the care aligns with your management plan. If you have specific communication preferences, let the reception team know when you refer.
Yes. Body Fusion offers secure telehealth video consultations Australia-wide, alongside in-clinic appointments across its Sydney locations. Telehealth can suit patients who live outside Sydney, have limited mobility or prefer to consult from home, and the same personalised care applies.
Body Fusion has five clinics across Sydney: the main clinic in Hunters Hill, plus Rozelle, Lane Cove, North Sydney and the newest location in Epping, along with Australia-wide telehealth. You can direct patients to the option that is most convenient, and find current clinic details on the locations page.
No. This page provides general information for referring health professionals about how to refer to Body Fusion and is not a substitute for clinical or professional advice. For questions about a specific patient or referral, please contact the practice directly.
