Larissa is our lead Dietitian in our Balgowlah and Wahroonga locations. Below she shares some more about her.
Where did you grow up?
Beacon Hill- Northern Beaches girl!
What do you love about being a dietitian?
It sounds cliche, but I do really enjoy helping people. I get a lot of satisfaction from providing education and helping people to make small changes that can end up having a big impact on their health and overall wellbeing.
What’s the best meal/recipe you make at home?
I like to think I make a pretty tasty vegetarian burrito bowl! The leftover chilli mix is super versatile for meals the next day too!
What is the most favourite place you have ever visited?
Ohh that’s a hard one, there are so many. I lived in Canada for a year and loved it- the nature, the people, hiking, snowboarding, biking- I could go on! I think my favourite holiday was Sri Lanka and I hope to return one day!
If you had a superpower what would it be and why?
Flying for sure! Then I could easily visit my friends from around the globe and find secluded beaches!
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Summer time, a day at the beach- swimming, reading, attempting to surf, napping. Winter is all about the hikes- as long and as remote/challenging as possible!
What would you sing at karaoke night?
Anyone who knows me, knows that I rarely sing loud enough for people to hear. I am tone deaf! I’m normally the person cheering other people on in Karaoke! I do love a bit of Starman by Davie Bowie if I’m on a road trip!
Do you have a favourite book or author?
My Favourite book has been Shantaram for years- it may be time for a re-read! I also love any book by Bryce Courtenay.
What is something new you want to try this year?
I would like to learn to play guitar!
What is your favourite quote?
A motivational speaker came to my class in high school (I wish I could remember his name, he was fantastic) and told us “pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again”- this has stayed with me for many years and I always tell myself this when I am challenged or struggling ,either emotionally or physically.
